Par cons\u00e9quent, des initiatives visant \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer les soins aux animaux et leur environnement respectif ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mises en place afin de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 certaines des implications morales associ\u00e9es aux syst\u00e8mes de production animale. L&#039;enrichissement environnemental est une strat\u00e9gie d&#039;att\u00e9nuation populaire applicable aux animaux d\u2019\u00e9levage. L&#039;enrichissement cognitif est un sous-groupe de l&#039;enrichissement environnemental qui fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 la mise en place structur\u00e9e d&#039;opportunit\u00e9s stimulantes sur le plan cognitif qui favorisent les comportements orient\u00e9s vers un objectif, l&#039;apprentissage op\u00e9rant et la discrimination perceptuelle chez les animaux, mobilisant ainsi des capacit\u00e9s cognitives \u00e9volu\u00e9es telles que la r\u00e9solution de probl\u00e8mes, la m\u00e9moire et l&#039;\u00e9valuation de l&#039;environnement. En permettant l&#039;apprentissage op\u00e9rant et l&#039;engagement gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l&#039;utilisation de r\u00e9compenses (par exemple, nourriture, eau, contact social), l&#039;enrichissement cognitif permet aux animaux d&#039;exercer leur autonomie, de s&#039;adapter \u00e0 leur environnement et d&#039;exprimer des comportements naturels. L&#039;enrichissement cognitif peut jouer un r\u00f4le dans le soutien du bien-\u00eatre et des capacit\u00e9s d&#039;adaptation des jeunes bovins qui subissent souvent des changements brusques dans leur environnement de production. Cette th\u00e8se examine l&#039;application et les implications de l&#039;enrichissement cognitif pour les jeunes bovins domestiques \u00e0 travers deux \u00e9tudes compl\u00e9mentaires. La premi\u00e8re \u00e9tude est une revue de litt\u00e9rature qui r\u00e9cence et examine l&#039;ensemble des publications actuelles qui portent sur l&#039;enrichissement cognitif chez les jeunes bovins, en identifiant les approches m\u00e9thodologiques, la terminologie utilis\u00e9e, les applications pratiques et les lacunes dans les connaissances. Les r\u00e9sultats de cette revue ont mis en \u00e9vidence des d\u00e9finitions incoh\u00e9rentes des classifications d&#039;\u00e2ge pour les bovins immatures, en particulier entre les termes \u00ab veau \u00bb et \u00ab g\u00e9nisse \u00bb. Deuxi\u00e8mement, la terminologie relative \u00e0 l&#039;enrichissement cognitif \u00e9tait peu fr\u00e9quente dans la litt\u00e9rature accept\u00e9e. Ensemble, ces r\u00e9sultats limitent les comparaisons possibles entre les \u00e9tudes et l&#039;\u00e9laboration de recommandations pour une mise en \u0153uvre pratique. Enfin, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l&#039;\u00e9laboration d&#039;une bo\u00eete \u00e0 outils d&#039;applicabilit\u00e9 dans laquelle nous avons \u00e9valu\u00e9 cat\u00e9goriquement la litt\u00e9rature, nous avons mis en \u00e9vidence le potentiel de la litt\u00e9rature non-auto-identifi\u00e9e pour contribuer \u00e0 la conception d&#039;enrichissements cognitifs applicables. Bien que ces r\u00e9sultats soient prometteurs pour l&#039;enrichissement cognitif, des travaux suppl\u00e9mentaires sont n\u00e9cessaires pour explorer des pistes plus larges sur ce sujet. La deuxi\u00e8me \u00e9tude \u00e9value de mani\u00e8re exp\u00e9rimentale la participation volontaire et les r\u00e9ponses comportementales de veaux laitiers sevr\u00e9s expos\u00e9s \u00e0 des t\u00e2ches d&#039;enrichissement bas\u00e9es sur des puzzles, en \u00e9valuant leur motivation \u00e0 s&#039;engager et leurs m\u00e9thodes d&#039;interaction avec les d\u00e9fis cognitifs. Nos r\u00e9sultats sugg\u00e8rent que les veaux ont r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement visit\u00e9 la zone d&#039;enrichissement cognitif tout au long des essais et y ont pass\u00e9 volontairement une partie importante du temps. De plus, les veaux ont exprim\u00e9 une multitude de comportements conformes \u00e0 leur exploration naturelle dans la zone d&#039;enrichissement, le traitement par bo\u00eete \u00e0 puzzle ayant eu un effet positif sur la dur\u00e9e des expressions comportementales. Combin\u00e9s, ces r\u00e9sultats indiquent que les veaux peuvent \u00eatre tr\u00e8s motiv\u00e9s \u00e0 participer volontairement \u00e0 un d\u00e9fi cognitif lorsqu&#039;on leur donne le choix de le faire.
